Indiana pain center to open clinic, ASC in former Walgreens: 4 key points

Lafayette Pain Care renovated a Walgreens in downtown Kokomo, Ind., according to the Kokomo Tribune.

Here are four things to know:

1. The pain center opened in February after spending $3.25 million to turn the former pharmacy into a pain clinic and freestanding ASC. The ASC will be operational in two months' time, after receiving licensing and certification.

2. Lafayette Pain Center is a five-year-old business operating its flagship in Lafayette, Ind., as well as clinics in Logansport, Winamac and Williamsport, Ind.

3. Two double-board certified physicians in anesthesiology and pain management will see patients at the clinic, and only patients who are referred by other physicians or healthcare providers. The group aims to treat patients without over prescribing pain medication.

4. The new 13,000-square-foot location added more than 24 jobs to Kokomo. The clinic has 14 exam rooms as well as patient education tools to discuss treatment options with patients.
