Illinois system shifts bevy of services to outpatient space — 5 details

Urbana, Ill.-based Carle health system relocated multiple departments to its new Champaign, Ill.-based medical clinic, Carle Outpatient Services at the Fields.

What you should know:

1. The transitions were staggered, The News-Gazette reported in April. Carle transferred plastic surgery services to the clinic on April 15; optometry, optical retail and ophthalmology services on April 29; general surgery and bariatric surgery on May 6; and ENT, audiology and hearing services on May 20.

2. The clinic is beside Champaign Surgery Center at Carle at The Fields, which is taking on new services such as otolaryngology.

3. The outpatient surgery center is operated by Carle and Champaign-based Christie Clinic, which also opened a medical office building on the same campus.

4. Carle relocated the departments for patients' convenience and to promote collaboration between the specialty and surgical departments, according to The News-Gazette.

5. Carle will continue offering oral and maxillofacial surgery at its North Clinic in Urbana.
