Maryville, Ill.-based Anderson Healthcare plans to build a medical campus in rural Edwardsville, Ill., which will feature a surgery center, the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
What you should know:
1. The health system plans to build the campus on 15 acres of farmland. The campus will include an outpatient surgery center, a pediatric specialty clinic, a rehabilitation hospital and other services.
2. The health system projects "explosive" residential growth for Edwardsville and its surrounding communities over the next decade.
3. Developer Korte Construction broke ground on the first phase of the campus in May, which will develop an 18,000-square-foot, $8.5 million dollar building housing the surgery center. Korte expects the building to be open next year.
4. The center will feature two operating rooms and a procedure room.
