Hospital CEOs argue against North Carolina’s CON reform legislation

The Raleigh (N.C.) Chamber of Commerce recently held a healthcare panel, which feature a number of hospital CEOs. The executives discussed issues including House Bill 200, which would reform the state’s certificate of need program, according to a Forbes report.

HB 200 would allow multispecialty ambulatory surgery centers to open in the state without going through the CON process. The CEOs on the panel argued that this action would drive profitable outpatient services outside hospital walls, according to the report.

Additionally, Senate Bill 702 has been filed in the state. This bill aims to completely repeal the state’s CON program, according to the report.
