Hitachi to acquire clinical reporting and diagnostic imaging analytics company — 4 things to know

The medical imaging supplier Hitachi Healthcare Americas Corporation in Twinsburg, Ohio, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Tokyo-based company Hitachi, agreed to acquire Greenville, S.C.-based VidiStar.

Here are four things to know about the VidiStar acquisition:

1. VidiStar's aims to improve how physicians review and report on diagnostic exams to facilitate productivity, portability and improved communication and clinical decision making.

2. VidiStar developed a cloud-based diagnostic viewer and customizable structured reporting solution for medical imaging and clinical decision making.

3. Hitachi plans to acquire VidiStar to advance Hitachi's informatics strategy and analytics capabilities to improve workflow and intelligence for physicians, especially healthcare providers conducting diagnostic ultrasound examinations.

4. Yasuhiku Taniguchi, CEO of Hitachi Healthcare Americas, believes that structured reporting and advanced analytics will play a critical role as the healthcare market transitions from volume- to value-based care.

5. Once the transaction is completed, VidiStar will become part of the Hitachi Healthcare Americas business group. VidiStar will remain in its current headquarters.
