Hiawatha Community Hospital expands surgery center — 5 key notes

Hiawatha Community Hospital is opening a new medical facility that includes a surgery center in addition to other facilities, according to a Hiawatha World report.

Here are five key notes:

1. The Hiawatha Community Hospital is growing the surgery unit and outpatient clinic with surgery nurse manager Ronna Montgomery, RN, BSN, at the helm.

2. Orthopedic surgeon Brian R. Duncan, MD, is expanding his practice through the surgery center at the hospital and offer total hip and knee replacements there. He’ll also see patients through the outpatient clinic and conduct surgeries at the HCH surgery center.

3. Orthopedic surgeon Brent Miller, MD, who focuses on pediatric and adolescent athletes and minimally invasive procedures, will also conduct surgeries at the HCH surgery center.

4. The medical facility upgrades also include MRI and other expanded services to treat the Hiawatha Community patients closer to home.
