1. On Aug. 13, Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare won certificate-of-need approval to develop an ASC in Hanover, Va., after two consecutive rejections by state health authorities. The approval came despite pushback from rival health system Bon Secours.
2. Manchester, N.H-based Catholic Medical Center, a 330-bed regional hospital, entered into an asset purchase agreement with a subsidiary of HCA on July 1. The purchase is in the regulatory review process with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.
2. HCA posted a net income of nearly $1.5 billion in the second quarter of 2024, up from $1.2 billion over the same period in 2023.
3. HCA ended the second quarter of 2024 with 123 ASCs, down from 126 the same quarter last year but up two from the first quarter of 2024.
5. Outpatient revenues made up 38.2% of the group’s patient-based earnings in the first quarter, compared with 39.8% in 2023.
