Green Mountain Care Board testimony wraps up over Green Mountain Surgery Center: 5 insights

Testimony before the Green Mountain Care Board wrapped up in regards to the proposed Colchester, Va.-based Green Mountain Surgery Center on April 19, the VTDigger and Burlington Free Press report.

Here's what you should know:

1. Investors and members of the public testified in front of the board.

2. The surgery center has been fiercely debated since July 2015.

3. The Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems and Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans both oppose the center. They didn't testify at the April 19 meeting

4. Lead Investor Amy Cooper responded to the claims made by Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems and Northwestern Medical Center saying the hospital was working at full capacity. Ms. Cooper is the executive director of Burlington, Va.-based HealthFirst.

5. The Green Mountain Care Board has until July to make a decision concerning the center.
