Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Ga. will transition from a full hospital to an Ambulatory Care Center, Fox 54 News reported May 4.
The transition, which has been formally communicated to Congress, will result in the permanent closure of inpatient care services, with the exception of the Residential Treatment Facility.
Operating rooms will remain open but limited to outpatient procedures, and the emergency room will be reclassified as an urgent care center. The Defense Health Agency told the publication it is engaged in a planning process to finalize the timeline and ensure a smooth transition for beneficiaries.
