Sanitas Medical Center, a Doral-based outpatient healthcare provider, has filed a WARN notice with the Florida Department of Commerce disclosing layoffs affecting 211 employees across 15 cities statewide.
The notice, received by the state on June 9, cites company restructuring and budgetary constraints as the reason for the cuts. The layoffs took effect the same day.
Sanitas operates primary care, urgent care, and specialty clinics throughout Florida, including locations branded with Florida Blue that serve patients 50 and older. The company also has a presence in Texas and several other states.
Doral, home to the company’s headquarters, accounts for the largest share of the layoffs at 115 employees. Other significant cuts include:
- Clermont (25)
- Coral Gables (20)
- Saint Cloud (12)
Tallahassee will lose nine positions split between two locations. Smaller cuts are spread across Temple Terrace, Coconut Creek, Fort Myers, Coral Springs, Hollywood, Tampa, Lauderdale Lakes, Plantation, Lauderhill, and Jacksonville, ranging from one to six employees per site.
The layoffs span clinical and administrative positions, including medical assistants, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, family and general practitioners, case managers, ultrasound technologists, phlebotomists, and community health workers. In Tallahassee specifically, eliminated roles include a Behavioral Health Care Manager, IT Support Specialist, Patient Representative Coordinator, Regional Charge Nurse, and Regional Operations Manager.
