Essentia Health makes progress on Lakewood Surgery Center partnership; breaks ground on clinic

Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health held a groundbreaking ceremony to expand its clinic in Grand Rapids, Minn., according to Business North.

Here’s what you should know:

1. As part of the $14 million expansion plans, Essentia partnered with Grand Rapids-based Lakewood Surgery Center. The ASC and the clinic sit in the same complex.

2. The partnership allows the ASC to expand its services to patients. The surgery center offers ophthalmology, orthopedics, general surgery, endoscopy, podiatry, eye laser procedures and pain management.

3. The expanded clinic will give patients more access to services such as cardiology, podiatry and orthopedics. Essentia plans to offer urology and ear, nose and throat services in the future.

4. The construction will last nearly 10 months and will add 25,000 square feet to Lakewood Surgery Center.

5. If a patient requires an overnight stay, they will have the procedure at Essentia Health- Deer River (Minn.) Clinic.
