Ernst & Young honors AmSurg’s Chris Holden for entrepreneurship: 5 key notes

Ernst & Young named AmSurg President and CEO Chris Holden Entrepreneur of the Year Southeast for Healthcare.

The award is in its 30th year of existence, given to regional recipients that compete to become national award winners. Here are five things to know about Chris Holden:

1. Mr. Holden has been president and CEO of AmSurg since October 2007. He previously spent more than 21 years in the healthcare industry.

2. Throughout his career, Mr. Holden spent time in multifacility and multi-market healthcare management. He was Senior Vice President and Division President of Triad Hospitals.

3. Mr. Holden previously held several officer positions with Columbia/HCA Healthcare.

4. In the first quarter of 2016, AmSurg reported $724.7 million in net revenues, which was a substantial increase over the same period last year. Mr. Holden reported same center revenues for ambulatory services increased 8.8 percent while same-contract revenue for physician services was up 12 percent.

5. The company is expanding its physician services presence in the Phoenix market and in Jacksonville, Fla.
