Could North Carolina’s CON legislation be repealed?

The North Carolina Senate’s proposed budget could spell the end of the state’s certificate of need program, according to a Blue Ridge Now report.

Senator Tom Apodaca (R-Henderson) proposed legislation that would eliminate the CON program, and now the same provisions have made their way to the Senate’s budget, according to the report.

A number of the state’s hospitals and health systems have spoken out against CON repeal, expressing concern over the resulting competition.
