Cook Medical Center breaking ground on hospital, outpatient surgery center totaling $29.7M — 4 insights

The Hospital Authority of Tift County will break ground on a replacement facility for Adel, Ga.-based Cook Medical Center, which'll include an outpatient surgery center, in March, the Tifton Gazette reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The new Cook Medical Center will replicate the services offered at the existing center. Tift County accepted a $29.7 million bid for the project.

2. As part of the construction, an outpatient surgery center will be built to enhance services currently offered at the hospital.

3. Center administration anticipates the surgery center will provide gastroenterology, general surgery, vascular surgery, orthopedics and podiatry services, among others.

4. The main hospital facility will offer inpatient care and a variety of services, including laboratory, imaging, psychiatric care, endoscopy and sleep services. A skilled nursing clinic will also be built in the medical center.

Cook Medical Center CEO Michael Purvis said, "I would like to recognize the vigilant work of the many stakeholders who have made this historic milestone possible. On behalf of Cook Medical Center, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the Hospital Authority of Tift County for their support, insight, and vision to make this project a reality."
