Here’s what you should know:
1. The hospital will adopt the Cook Children’s Surgery Center moniker in the coming months.
2. The hospital is transitioning into an ASC because it failed to meet CMS’ overnight census requirement to operate as a hospital.
3. Cook Children’s will retain ownership and operation of the hospital’s urgent care clinic, imaging center and draw station April 23.
4. Cook Children’s Surgery Center will open May 1. It’ll be run as a joint venture between Cook Children’s, NueHealth and physician investors.
5. Approximately 150 Cook Children’s employees will lose their jobs as a result of the transition.
