The “House Select Committee on Certificate of Need and Hospital Related Issues” will be led by Rep. Torbett and Rep. Fred Steen. The committee has been tasked by North Carolina’s Speaker of the House Thom Tillis to “thoroughly examine all components of healthcare delivery in our state to ensure government is playing the proper role,” said Rep. Tillis, in the release.
This is a significant development for all providers in the state, said Bart Walker, JD, attorney with McGuireWoods and publisher of the North Carolina Healthcare Report.
“Due in large measure to the Republicans capturing both houses of the State General Assembly for the first time in more than a century last year, there appears to be a new appetite in Raleigh to revisit selective de-regulation in a few key areas,” Mr. Walker says.
