Cleveland Clinic acquires Park West Surgical Center & Summit Ophthalmology: 3 things to know

Cleveland Clinic has expanded its ophthalmology footprint.

The Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute acquired Park West Surgical Center and Summit Ophthalmology, both in Akron, according to a Crain’s Cleveland Business report.

Here are three things to know about the transaction.

1. Park West Surgical Center opened in 2006. The center will now be affiliated with the Clinic’s Medina (Ohio) Hospital, according to the report.
 
2. Summit Ophthalmology’s five physicians are now members of the Cleveland Clinic staff.

3. Summit Ophthalmology physicians will have access to the Clinic’s EHR and many of the system’s ophthalmology subspecialties.
