Buffalo, N.Y.-based Catholic Health has acquired a controlling interest in the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Western New York, the region’s highest-volume ambulatory surgery center, located in Amherst.
According to a Catholic Health news release, the multispecialty ASC now covers orthopedics, cosmetic and plastic surgery, podiatry, pain management, and ENT services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Catholic Health President and CEO Mark Sullivan said the deal responds directly to patient demand for greater outpatient access in the Northtowns. “As healthcare service locations and patient demand rebalances, so too must health systems,” Mr. Sullivan said.
David Rigan, MD, physician representative of ASC of WNY, said the affiliation will extend community outreach and support the center’s commitment to safe, affordable surgical care. JoAnn Vecchio, the center’s administrator, said the partnership will allow expansion of quality surgical services across Catholic Health affiliates.
