Canton-Potsdam Hospital's outpatient project approved — 4 insights

Potsdam, N.Y.-based Canton-Potsdam Hospital received the state health department's approval to construct a two-story, outpatient procedure building, North Country Now reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The outpatient building will provide ophthalmology, gastroenterology and pain management services.

2. The facility will have a procedure room and two GI rooms.

3. Administrators believe the building could open in 2019.

4. Potsdam-based St. Lawrence Health System President David Acker said, "Community trends and procedure volumes drive the need for change to accommodate shifting demands, and construction is fundamental to meeting those demands."
