Cirrus Health is selling its 51 percent stake in the private, for-profit hospital. The remaining 49 percent is held and will be retained by Fresno doctors, according to a report from The Fresno Bee.
Fresno Surgical Hospital was formerly Fresno Surgical Center. It was founded 26 years ago by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Alan Pierrot. Cirrus acquired the controlling interest in 2006.
Saint Agnes Medical Center and Fresno Surgical Hospital will continue to operate under separate licenses, according to a Saint Agnes Medical Center news release. A newly formed joint operations board will oversee ongoing operations for Fresno Surgical Hospital.
