Berkeley Medical Center cuts ribbon on outpatient surgery center, to open in January 2018: 3 key notes

Martinsburg, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center held a ribbon cutting for a new outpatient surgery center last week, according to The Journal.

Here are three things to know:

1. The building has two operating rooms designed for ophthalmology and gastroenterology procedures as well as two other operating rooms for surgical services scheduled to open in mid-2018.

2. The center will open Jan. 3, 2018 and include 12 pre- and post-procedure rooms as well as a pre-surgical testing area with EKG and lab services.

3. David Fishkin, MD, is the medical director of the outpatient surgery center and Jack Shamblin, MD, is the chief of anesthesia at BMC.
