Beaumont building surgery center near main campus — 4 insights

Royal Oak, Mich.-based Beaumont Health is building an outpatient surgery center across from its main campus, according to a Beaumont representative who confirmed a Crain's Detroit Business report.

What you should know:

1. Beaumont is building a 90,000-square-foot multispecialty ambulatory care surgery center.

2. The health system will offer local surgeons investment shares in the center.

3. The center will specialize in orthopedics, urology and cardiology among others.

4. Beaumont originally planned to develop an orthopedic-only center with Southfield-based Michigan Orthopaedic Surgeons but expanded the project's scope after increased clinician interest.
