Here are five details:
1. Dover Surgicenter will now be called Bayhealth Surgery Center, Kent Campus.
2. Most of Dover Surgicenter’s staff members were retained and will become Bayhealth employees.
3. The acquisition is meant to combine the surgery center’s efficiency and convenience with Bayhealth’s resources, said Bayhealth Senior Vice President of Planning and Business Development John Van Gorp.
4. The surgery center offers orthopedic surgery, podiatry, general surgery, ENT, gastroenterology, pain management services, plastic surgery and oral surgery. Additional procedures will be added.
5. Edward Alexander, MD, will perform upper endoscopies and colonoscopies, as well as hernia repairs and other minor surgeries requiring anesthesia, at the surgery center.
