AZ's Kingman Regional Considering Surgery Center for Vacated Hospital

Kingman (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center is considering whether to use a hospital in Kingman it acquired last year as an outpatient surgery center, according to a Daily Miner report.

 

KRMC acquired Hualapai Mountain Medical Center from MedCath for $31 million before HMMC closed in September. The KRMC board and administration are mulling over how to use the vacated facility, with possibilities including an ASC and patient overflow option for KRMC.

 

Veterans groups have suggested KRMC offer space in HMMC to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or possibly sell the building to the VA be developed into a veterans hospital.

 

KRMC indicated late last year that its short-term plans for the hospital would include a surgery center, according to a November Daily Miner report.
