Avera Health constructing medical office building with GI, orthopedic focus — 4 insights

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health is developing a surgical hospital with an attached medical office building that could open as soon as October 2019, ABC affiliate KSFY reports.

What you should know:

1. The campus will total 260,000 square feet.

2. Both facilities will feature specialty physicians in gastroenterology, orthopedics, sports medicine, rheumatology and internal medicine.

3. Avera said the development is the largest ever in Sioux Falls history.

4. Avera Health Regional President Dave Kapaska, MD, said, “This is an unflinching example of the unified, strategic effort Avera is making to enhance health services in the region by providing greater and easier access to convenient, high-end health services like orthopedics and gastroenterology. Healthcare of the future must be convenient and easily accessible, so Avera is revisioning what care we deliver where.”
