The ASC, developed in collaboration with a group of surgeons, is an 11,000-square-foot facility with three ORs, two procedure rooms, pre-operative and recovery areas, sterilizing room, business office and reception area.

Physicians will perform outpatient surgical procedures in general surgery, orthopedics, ENT and pain management, said Tyler Merrill, ASCOA vice president of acquisitions and development, in an ASCOA news release. The first surgical cases are scheduled for late December.

“Healthcare, especially the cost of healthcare, is a political hot button,” said Mr. Merill in the news release. “A low-cost, high-quality surgical option not only benefits the community, but also helps quell the rising costs of healthcare.”

The surgery center will be operated by area physicians, with ASCOA providing daily administrative and consulting services.
