Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago obtains CON approval for surgery center: 5 highlights

Chicago-based Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital is building a new facility that will provide outpatient services in Northbrook, Ill., according to the Chicago Tribune.

Here are five highlights:

1. The hospital recently received certificate of need approval from the Illinois Health Facilities & Services Review Board to build the facility.

2. The surgery center is 26,000 square feet and will house four operating rooms.

3. The facility will also house an MRI, private rooms for pre- and post-operative care and physician offices.

4. The hospital expects to open the center in spring 2018.

5. Lurie’s opened an ambulatory surgical treatment center, the Outpatient Center in Northbrook, in September 2015. The center offers services including electroencephalograms, comprehensive dermatological services, neuropsychology, sports medicine, physical and occupational therapy.
