American Vision Partners acquires Miles Eye Center, eyes other practices — 5 facts

American Vision Partners affiliate Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Phoenix partnered with Show Low, Ariz.-based Miles Eye Center to expand vision care services in Show Low and Lakeside, Ariz.

Here are five facts:

1. Miles Eye Center will now operate as Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. The partnership will enhance retina diagnosis and surgical care, cataract, cornea, glaucoma and other ophthalmic services.

2. The alliance brings advanced EMRs, virtual patient education, access to an online appointment management portal and secure messaging to physicians to the communities.

3. Joshua Lewis, OD, and Joseph Brewer, OD, who currently practice at Miles Eye Center, will move to Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center.

John Knippers, MD, an eye physician specializing in cataract and glaucoma surgery, will join the Show Low team. Jack Sipperley, MD, and Mahmood El Gasim, MD, will provide retina and vitreous retina services.

4. American Vision Partners is seeking partnerships with other eye care centers throughout Arizona and other regions, according to President and CEO Kyle A. Bohannon.

5. American Vision Partners was established in April 2017 with the affiliation of Barnet Dulaney Perkins and Mesa, Ariz.-based Southwestern Eye Center. Together, the three companies operate more than 40 eye care centers in Arizona and New Mexico, including 23 ASCs.
