8 Hospitals & Health Systems Planning on Opening Surgery Centers

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham (Mass.) has broken ground on a new two-story cancer center. The second floor will house a surgery center. The project is expected to be finished in 2014.

Sanpete Valley Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Utah and Intermountain Healthcare plan to open an 8,500-square-foot, joint venture surgical center on the hospital's campus.

San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield, Calif., has submitted licensing requests to the California Department of Public health for two ambulatory surgery centers.

River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, Miss., has opened its freestanding Pediatric Surgery Center.

Holy Cross Hospital in Florida has announced its intention to open a series of ambulatory care facilities throughout the southern Florida region, beginning with a 7,965-square-foot center in Fort Lauderdale.

Wyoming, Mich.-based healthcare system Metro Health has filed a letter of intent with the Michigan Department of Community Health seeking approval to open an $11.9 million outpatient surgery center in Grand Rapids.

Little Falls (N.Y.) Hospital has begun a $12.5 million project that includes the addition of an ambulatory surgery center.

New York-Presbyterian Hospital
is planning to open an $896 million surgery center.
