8 orthopedic-driven ASCs making headlines

Here are eight orthopedic-driven surgery centers that have opened or made news in January and February 2017.

New York City-based Hospital for Specialty Surgery and Stamford (Conn.) Health are partnering to expand orthopedic services throughout Connecticut. Through the partnership, HSS will staff Stamford-based Tully Health Center and begin seeing ambulatory surgery patients.

Developers are awaiting final approval from the Auburn (N.H.) Planning Board to build Access Ambulatory Medical in Auburn. The proposed surgery center will mainly offer orthopedic services and various otolaryngology surgeries.

SurgCenter of St. Lucie (Fla.) opened in January 2017. Six surgeons specializing in fields including spine and orthopedics offer services at the ASC.  

Centralia, Ill.-based St. Mary's Hospital held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its orthopedic surgery center.

OrthoSports Athens (Ala.) and Athens-Limestone Hospital started construction on a new facility featuring an ASC. The ASC will be three stories and will house six operating rooms.

Ortho Montana, St. Vincent Healthcare and Yellowstone Surgery Center, all based in Billings, Mont., are expanding their services through Montana Ambulatory Care Campus in Billings. The campus will offer services including orthopedic, nonsurgical spine and physical therapy.

Vero Orthopaedics & Neurology in Vero Beach, Fla., opened an ASC, which will offer treatment for spine, elbow, knee, foot, ankle, hand, shoulder and wrist surgery. The facility will also include sports medicine and interventional pain management.

Lancaster (Ohio) Specialty Surgery Center opened its doors in January 2017. It mainly offers orthopedic services, including outpatient total joint procedures.
