8 Hospitals or Health Systems Constructing Surgery Centers

Three-hospital health system Excela Health is planning on building Latrobe Ambulatory Care Center, a 114,000-square-foot surgery center, in Union, Pa.

Kalispell Regional Medical Center is opening a $42 million four-story surgical center in Montana. The surgery center will have eight operating rooms, 18 same-day surgery beds, 18 post-anesthesia beds and two endoscopy rooms.

The multi-hospital University of Maryland Medical System and Shore Health System will be opening an ambulatory surgery center in Grasonville, Md.

Gwinnett Medical Center, which has hospitals in Lawrenceville and Duluth, Ga., has purchased a $7.5 million former supermarket in order to build an outpatient park, which will include ambulatory surgery services.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has opened an ambulatory surgery center in South Bay, Calif. The center is the third ASC the hospital has opened in California.

The Baystate Franklin Medical Center is planning to replace its existing surgery center in Greenfield, Mass. The construction of the new center is planned to begin this summer.

Palomar Health’s 7,600-square-foot, $45.5 million ambulatory care center will open this month in Ramona, Calif.  

Kent Hospital plans to open its 30,000-square-foot $15 million ambulatory surgery center in Warwick, R.I., in May.
