5 things to know about Kenmore Mercy Hospital’s new surgery unit

Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., opened a new ambulatory surgery unit, according to the Ken-Ton Bee.

Here are five things to know:

1. The renovated space provides increased space for pre-surgical care, advanced technology and outpatient surgeries.

2. Along with the addition of the surgery unit, the hospital has also built two new surgical suites, renovated the sterile processing department, updated the pre-surgical testing unit and purchased the da Vinci Xi Robotic System.

3. The new surgery unit features 32 patient bays with 10 private rooms.

4. Hospital officials anticipate more than 6,500 surgeries including orthopedic, neurosurgery, general surgery, colorectal surgery, urology, gynecological surgery and podiatry procedures will be completed at Kenmore Mercy Hospital this year.

5. The ambulatory surgery unit was designed by Kidney Architects in Buffalo, N.Y., and developed by Picone Construction in Clarence, N.Y.
