5 Hospitals & Health Systems Opening Surgery Centers

The VA Medical Center in Syracuse, N.Y., has completed a $90 million, six-story wing that includes an outpatient surgery center.

Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, Ill., has opened its $9 million Surgical Center, which is a joint venture between the hospital, area physicians and United Surgical Partners International.

St. Clair Hospital has opened a $20 million outpatient center in Peters Township, Pa. The second story of facility offers multispecialty surgery services.

Dover, N.H.-based Wentworth-Douglass Health System has announced plans to open the 6,500-square-foot Wentworth Surgical Center in Somersworth, N.H. The ambulatory surgery center is expected to be completed in late 2013 or early 2014.

Christus Schumpert
, a Louisiana-based health system, intends to build an ambulatory surgery center in Shreveport and Bossier City, La.
