2 outpatient surgical hospitals proposed in Virginia

Two healthcare organizations are seeking permission to build outpatient surgical hospitals in Virginia, according to the Virginia Department of Health's monthly report.

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States proposed establishing an outpatient surgical hospital with four operating rooms.

The Virginia Commonwealth University Health System Authority wants approval to establish an outpatient surgical hospital with up to six ORs at the VCU Health Neuroscience, Orthopedic and Wellness Center in Henrico.

Kaiser's application was received July 31, and VCU's was received Aug. 1. Both projects are pending approval.
