Survey: Ease of Use Top Factor in Selecting Mobile Medical Devices

In a survey of people using mobile medical devices, 96 percent said ease-of-use was the top factor in selecting a mobile healthcare device while 76 percent listed price as the second factor, according to a report by the IBM Institute for Business Value.

The report, titled the Future of Connected Health Devices, also found that:

 

  • 30 percent more people expected to use such devices to encourage physical activity within two years, while twice as many people expect to use them to inform others of someone’s changing health condition.
  • 77 percent said privacy of healthcare data is a minimum requirement for use, but 63 percent still wanted to share their health data with multiple health professionals.
  • 71 percent relied more on healthcare providers’ recommendations for devices than on their own familiarity with a brand.
  • More than three-quarters said feedback on their data from healthcare professionals was important or very important.
