Medical device companies in the Midwest attracted $423 million in 2013, according to the BioEnterprise Midwest Healthcare Venture Investment Report.
Midwest healthcare companies attracted $758 million in new investments across 217 companies in 2013. According to the report, the 2013 equity funding was allocated as follows among these three sectors:
• Medical device companies — $423 million, which is 59 percent of the total
• Biopharmaceutical companies — $183 million, which is 25 percent of the total
• Healthcare IT and service companies — $117 million, which is 16 percent of the total
