Physicians Plan to Switch Suppliers as Market Evolves, Researchers Suggest

Next season, 11 percent of physician practices plan to reduce the proportion of influenza vaccine doses they purchase from their primary supplier and shift those purchases to another supplier, demonstrating increased competition among suppliers and distributors of the vaccine, according to Phoenix Healthcare research.

Phoenix Healthcare's research findings stem from an analysis of 473 interviews with physicians, nurses and office managers. Traditionally, a strong relationship with a supplier has been the primary purchase factor. Healthcare providers, however, seem to be placing greater emphasis on pricing and discounts.
