Medtronic CFO Dispels Rumors Company Is Shying Away From GPOs

Despite recent contract cancellations with group purchasing organizations Premier and Novation, medical device giant Medtronic's CFO is dispelling rumors that the company is shifting away from doing business with GPOs, according to a Mass Device news report.

Gary Ellis said GPOs play a significant role in healthcare, and the company intends to maintain business relationships with GPOs, even though it recently made headlines canceling multibillion dollar contracts with Novation and Premier. At the time of the contract cancellations, company representatives said Medtronic ended both deals in order to deal directly with hospitals, according to the news report.
