Sysmex American selected McKesson Medical-Surgical as the exclusive distributor for its new XW-100 automated hematology analyzer. Here are five things you need to know:
1. The Sysmex XW-100 is the first Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments-waived complete blood count diagnostic instrument.
2. The device generates blood test results in as few as three minutes
3. With the XW-100, healthcare professionals could bypass certifications needed to operate more complex diagnostic equipment.
4. Partnering with McKesson allows Sysmex to enter new markets, including pediatrics, urgent care, surgery centers and health systems, according to Sysmex COO Andy Hay.
5. Select medical practices will see XW-100 devices introduced next month, but the full launch isn't expected until spring 2018.
