Anesthesiology Residents at Mount Sinai School of Medicine Switch From Paper to iPad

This past summer, the anesthesiology department at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine allocated money usually given to its residents to purchase textbooks to purchase iPads, an Anesthesiology News report said.

The residents can look up electronic medical records, textbooks and other academic resources at the point of care. C. Peter Waegemann, president of mHealth Initiative, in Boston, an organization that looks at technology in healthcare, told Anesthesiology News there are 5,000-7,000 health care–related iPad applications currently available.
