Here are five things to know:
1. Mr. Fulks, who has been CEO for 14 years, received the award for heading the 276-bed hospital in LaGrange, Ga.
2. The hospital ended fiscal year 2014 as its safest year ever, attributed to Mr. Fulks’ safety initiative implemented in 2004. West Georgia Health ranked in the top 5 percent nationally, in patient safety excellence by Healthgrades.
3. A four-story patient tower was built under Mr. Fulks’ leadership, which houses the heart clinic, emergency department, intensive care unit and labor and delivery.
4. Mr. Fulks also oversaw the creation of the Women’s Health Center, wound care, bariatric surgery and occupational medicine service lines.
5. Premier Inc. honored West Georgia Health with its QUEST Award for outstanding patient care.
