2. President Trump has long believed the discredited theory that vaccines cause autism. He tweeted in March 2014, “Healthy young child goes to doctor, gets pumped with massive shot of many vaccines, doesn’t feel good and changes – AUTISM. Many such cases!”

3. Experts believe the growing anti-vaccine movement is threatening public health, The Washington Post reports. Vaccines prevent the deaths of 2.5 million children worldwide, but preventable diseases are reemerging due to an unvaccinated population.

4. The anti-vaccine movement is strong in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Texas. The Texas movement is the most politically active with groups like Texans for Vaccine Choice actively organizing, The Washington Post reports.
