Springfield Clinic uses Xenex Germ-Zapping Robot to enhance patient safety: 5 notes

Springfield (Ill.) Clinic is the first ASC in Illinois to utilize the Xenex Germ-Zapping Robot.

Here are five notes:

1. The robot uses Full Spectrum pulsed xenon ultraviolet light to eradicate bacteria, viruses, fungi and bacterial spores.

2. The technology is portable and can even destroy C.diff, influenza, Ebola and MRSA.

3. The ASC has already achieved an infection rate of less than one percent.

4. The Xenex system disinfects a recovery bay in five minute cycles.

5. The robot disinfects a large surgical suite in abut 16 minutes to 24 minutes.

"By implementing the latest technology in infection control, we can keep our patients safer and improve the quality of their medical outcomes," said Mary Steward, chief clinical officer.
