During training, team members work on communication, leadership, coordination, cooperation and other team-based skills. Each member enacts a specific role during training and coordinates with other team members to obtain a common outcome.

1. The study found team training can lower patient morality by 15 percent.
2. Team training yielded a 34 percent improvement in clinical performance.
3. Training also had a 15 percent increase in patient satisfaction.
4. Teams that underwent team training improved their organization’s financial outcomes by 15 percent.
5. Healthcare professionals who underwent training improved their on-the-job skills by 25 percent and new skills by 31 percent.
