3. Surgeon Atul Gawande, MD, and Peter Pronovost, MD, PhD, of Johns Hopkins Medicine, were also nominated for the award. Both physicians contribute to the PPAHS.
4. Dr. Gawande contributed to the creation of the PPAHS PCA Safety Checklist and Dr. Pronovost helped create the OB VTE Safety Recommendations.
