Patient Safety Tool: Gastroenterology Safe Surgery Checklist

The American Gastroenterological Association, in partnership with the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, has developed a safe surgery checklist for ambulatory surgery centers that provide gastroenterology services.

The safe surgery checklist helps ensure certain measures or steps are taking prior to administration of anesthesia/sedation, prior to introduction of the endoscope and prior to the patient leaving the procedure room. The checklist also provides space for future quality improvement.

Download the gastroenterology safe surgery checklist (pdf) for use in your own facility.
