Here are four things to know:
1. The two institutions that implement safety processes to save the most lives by Aug. 1, 2017, will be chosen for the trip.
2. The Carters are aiding the Patient Safety Movement Foundation in its goal of zero preventable patient deaths.
3. The foundation will select winners by Aug. 31, 2017. The winners will reflect the top two institutions to save the greatest number of lives between Jan. 2 and Aug. 1, 2017.
4. The trip will occur Oct. 13 to Oct. 15, 2017.
