Here are three points:
1. The foundation said more than 3,526 hospitals and 70 health IT companies signed an open data pledge stating their commitment to patient safety.
2. Former Vice President Joe Biden gave the keynote and highlighted the importance of patient safety, saying “We cannot spend billions on sublime new therapies to save lives from cancer, only to lose them tragically as a consequence of predictable mistakes.”
3. The Patient Safety Movement had originally set a goal to save 50,000 lives by 2016. By January 2016, the foundation reported 24,643 saved lives.
