Robert Wears, PhD, an expert dedicated to improving patient safety, died at age 70, according to The Florida Times-Union.

1. Dr. Wears researched how human factors impacted patient safety.

2. His work also centered on teams' inner workings during emergency department shift changes.

3. Throughout his career, Dr. Wears published more than 20 book chapters and 150 articles.

4. He was a professor in the emergency medicine department at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.
