The National Patient Safety Foundation provides a free, downloadable flyer that outlines what patients can do while they're in a hospital or other organization to help prevent infections.
The flyer, titled "Preventing Infections in the Hospital —What You Can Do" focuses on best practices before and following surgery, including washing hands often, using hand sanitizer, asking questions, following instructions about breathing treatments and asking for help.
